On an initiative in 2004 by the Deux-Sèvres Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chmabers of Commerce dans Industry in the department of Poitou-Charentes have been running a programme among small and medium-sized companies with the support of the DRIRE (Regional Directorate of Industry, Research and Environment). Until 2007 the programme focussed on awareness-raising and supporting progressive approaches ; after a test phase in Deux-Sèvres, this programme has moved into a regionalisation phase with the other CCIs in the Region and the CRCI.
First phase : " Target Sustainable development " The first phase entitled "Target Sustainable development" managed to raise the awaresess of 600 participants in 400 businesses. Sixty businesses introduced a progressive approach. Second phase : "Entrepreneurs in sustainable development" Since the en of 2007, a second phase has been introduced entitled "Entrepreneurs in sustainable development" Its priority is to help small and medium-sized businesses in their environmentally-friendly and sustainable development projects and to promote them. This priority expressed itself in operational targets to:
mobilise many networks, partners and research centres around this initiative...
put small and medium-sized companies in touch with centres of expertise to develop projects that touch on the emerging markets of sustainable devlopment, green activities, eco-design, the relationship between the company and the community, etc.
offer medium-sized companies in Poitou-Charentes a 50% grant for individual consultancy to help them in the project.
This programme is supported by the DRIRE and also since 2008 by GDF SUEZ.
